From Housesitting to Roommating

I moved to Nashville. And things went differently than expected.

For months leading up to October, I felt lost and quite honestly I was in a decently dark hole with what seemed like no way out. No, I know… Not a fun way to start a post, but I told you I was going to give you all of me. (Stick with me, this is a happy ending 😏)

A breakup was brewing, my love/hate relationship with LA was a lot more on the despise side of the spectrum, and I knew in order for me to break through whatever the hell was going on with me, I needed a complete 360 life change. Now, I’ve done this before, but I’ve never accepted defeat and surrendered. Which led me to Nashville, somewhere that wasn’t even on my radar til my Mama made a passing comment about it. I said “Fuck It” like I typically do.

Seconds later I was on TrustedHousesitters.com, shooting messages to all available sits so I hopefully had somewhere to rest my head once I arrived. Within a few minutes, the beautiful home with 2 Goldendoodles and a girl named Heather accepted my application to sit for November during Thanksgiving. Mind you, this is mid-October. Where the hell will I live til then if no one else accepts my app?

She sends me a timid message along the lines of “Hey, I’ve never done this before but I have a big house and it’s now just my dogs and I and I don’t know you but I’m trying new things so if you need anywhere to stay like I think you could stay with me”. Bingo. Little does she know, I’m going to swoon her so hard that she’ll beg me to stay. This is where I introduce my future and current roommate, Heather. Newly divorced, ready for new experiences and an evident curious soul.

I met Heather at her home the first night I’m in town and it went from a casual chat about sitting the pups for the holiday to best friends hanging on the couch drinking wine type-of-vibe. She doesn’t want a full-time roommate, but she also doesn’t want to be alone every night. Sounds like with my wanderlust tendencies and other house sitting gigs around town, I’m her perfect match. The stars aligned bringing us together and I thank them everyday for her graciousness.

I now have a home in Nashville (and forever because she won’t be able to get rid of me, ever) until October 2022. During this time, I will continue traveling, house sitting for others, hopefully be finding a bartending job on Broadway, and enjoying the summer outdoors with my new little fam.

If you’re wondering, hmmm wtf is Trusted Housesitters and why would I sign up? I’m writing a post about it! Check back! In the meantime, get your 25% off by clicking the link above :)
